Portrait Parties

Portrait parties bring together friends and family for affordable professional portraits taken in a relaxed, natural environment, for a party that is truly unique!

These sessions give everyone a custom portrait experience without the larger investment of a full photo session.

Portrait Parties are great for people who:

  • Are on a budget but still want professional photos taken of their children or themselves.
  • Need updated photos of their family.
  • Have always wanted to try a “themed” photo session.
  • Want a fun, unique way to bond with friends

What is a Portrait Party?

A portrait party is an event hosted in your home or a nearby location, where I will take professional portraits for you and your friends in 20 minute mini-sessions.

How do they work?

Portrait Parties are hosted by one person who coordinates the guest list, provides the location, music and refreshments, and collects the fees. Hostess gets a free photo session and digital downloads of all edited images of her family. In addition, she will receive a custom app for her iphone, ipad or android of her images!

Each guest pays a reduced-rate portrait fee of only $195, which includes the following:

* One 20-minute custom photo session
* 5-7 artistically edited photos to choose from

* A fun musical video slideshow of edited images from the entire party

* An app of your images for your smart phone and tablet

How do I schedule a party?

First, contact me to look at several prospective dates. Then make out a potential guest list. I require at least 6 people/families to participate in the parties with a maximum of 10. Discuss dates with your guests to see which dates will work best for all of you. Think of the best location. Once your date and location is set, you can put together an invitation however you would like by postal, using evites or by creating an event on Facebook. As the event gets closer, we will  decide whether it will be indoor or outdoors.

If I Host a Portrait Party, What Are My Responsibilities? 

The Party Host is the key ingredient to a successful party. As the party host, you will be required to invite a minimum of 6 guests/families to participate in the event. You will coordinate refreshments and the scheduling of sessions. Successful hosts follow up with their guests with reminders. Three days before your party, you’ll email me a list of your scheduled guests. In terms of space, if the session is indoors, we will need enough room to set up a mini studio in a private area to avoid distractions. Backdrops and lights are occasionally necessary so a living or family room is preferred. Weather permitting, an outdoor setting is also ideal for portraits.

The theme for your party can be as wide open as your imagination! Tell me what theme you would like and I will bring any props I have to add to it. Here are some suggestions:

The only money you are responsible for collecting is the participation fee ($125/guest). Please let guests know they may pay in cash or check (note: checks MUST be made out to Thea Ellenberg).
