Teddy bears are a popular prop when it comes to newborn photography, and this little man looked right at home in my little Teddy bear bonnet. If you are wondering how baby's skin always looks so smooth and creamy, as a newborn photographer in Athens, Ga, I will tell you that their skin is not usually like that naturally. There is a lot of artistic hand-editing done "in post", which means after the session during the editing phase. I would say, on average, I spend about 4 times as much time in post than I do during the session itself. So if a session takes 3 hours, I could easily spend 12 hours in post. Things like baby acne, scratches, dry skin, redness, strange color casts, wrinkles in the fabric, etc., are all addressed during the editing process. That is why professional photography costs what it costs. There is a lot of unseen work that goes into getting your baby's skin to look smooth like pudding :-) But I will tell you, it is all worth it in the end to have heirloom portraiture that will last for generations!
